an update here; i can confirm that the data from Notch is essentially plug and play with Unity, you can see for yourself by downloading any of the examples on their site.
here are the steps:
-download a .bvh from their site
-use an app like Blender to convert the .bvh to .FBX
-import the FBX to your project
-select the FBX and change the Rig from generic to Humanoid
-add the animation to your Character’s animation controller, set it as the default state and hit play.
^the above steps assume your biped model employs a standard mechanim hierarchy (for example, i was using the MCS male from the asset store)
also Notch supports Root Motion
Hi guys,
I am one of the founders of Notch, @amjcrawford thanks for sharing Notch with Unity3D community!
We indeed just did an update that introduces root motion. (
). To celebrate that we are running a promotion: Notch Interfaces Inc.
Notch supports BVH export that works with Blender, Motion Builder and other programs. In fact, we have already seen Notch being used for animation. Check out these animations using Notch mocap workflow:

Happy to answer any questions about the system / workflow.
Is there a plugin for this yet?
Is there any plans for a Unity Plugin?
Yeah, a Unity Plugin would be really nice.
@stepan_wearnotch , any plans on creating a Unity plugin? That would be very useful indeed…
@stepan_wearnotch , A plugin for Unity and Reallusion possibly?
@stepan_wearnotch , do you have any plan to create a plug-in for unity?
