Not sure how many folks here already read TIGSource, but I just stumbled on Notch’s original thread that he was updating while first developing Minecraft. From a developer point of view, I found it extremely interesting to read through it and follow the evolution of his ideas and the way in which player (developer) feedback influenced some of the decisions he made. You might also find it pretty interesting to read through if you have a bit of spare time on your hands…
Thanks for the link, I’ve only read the first few pages so far but it’s definitely interesting to see.
I think it’s pretty interesting that even at the early stages people were already interested in the game
hmm… wtf… theyre calling the enemies “mobs” right away… i guess, that term comes from old MMO type games or MUDs ?? … never played a MMO…
its a term i never heard of in video games until After minecraft … and then EVERYONE calls enemies in ANY game “mobs” and for some reason that REALLY bugs me… im like: WTF!! call em “enemies” or “monsters” or “bad guys” … not “mobs” … mobs sounds lame to me lol … it makes sense in Minecraft, because the monsters spawn in mobs
idk why it bugs me, just sounds lame to me lol… ??? … oh because people refer to a single character as a “mob” … and im like “WTF!! 1 person is NOT a “mob””
moving objects “mobs” i heard it first time on everquest.
That sounds like it would have been alot of fun! Shame it wasn’t implemented into Vanilla Minecraft. ![]()
mob goes back to the first MUD ever made, stands for mobile. Pretty common amongst online worlds ever since then…
I love the very last post
"95 pages later this made two point five billion dollars
inspiring imo"
