Im sad ):
I looked up that Hero Engine thing (looked great).
Went to download it but it was for windows only.

Hopeing for reply’s,

That’s quite the opinionated statement… If opinions are gonna be flying around, then mine is that Linux is the best for game development…
i didnt know that poeple used lunix for high level stuff but whatever works.
Hahaha oh wow.
That’s why there is no mac version. Because macs think they are better at everything. No one makes games for a mac, no one makes games on a mac.
Use bootcamp or whatever and boot into windows to use windows tools. Not that hard, now is it?
hmmmm… ive always thought macs were faster. mabey im wrong
Yes yes you are
Who said anything about high level? There are engines that exist that are not all in one like unity… In fact, many engines out there are simply a level editor and a collection of APIs. When it comes to actually coding, I much prefer coding on a linux platform.
Yeah people were making games on Lunix commodore, so what?
whatever you guys say.
i just wish Hero Engine Was avalible for macs.
If you know anymore MMORPG engines out there let me know.
Since you have a mac, I suppose you’re rich, so can’t you just hire a programmer to make you one?
Also unity makes a great mmo engine, clientside atleast.
Macs have always gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to things like this, yet you pay more for them. Many, many years ago, I made the decision to not buy a Mac simply for this very reason. Apple spends way too much time trying to capitalize on what they think is going to be the next biggest trend and suckers are always shelling out big bucks for it. Yet Mac users always act so surprised when they find out Macs are largely ignored by many software developers.
p.s. you can look into Realm Crafter. It’s not free and I don’t think they have Mac support either.
In my opinion (Since they seem to be everywhere in this thread), Macs are good for one thing and one thing only: Multimedia… Unless you are designing graphics, composing music/sfx, or editing movies, I really don’t see a benefit in owning a mac.
Im not Rich…
Because you bought a Mac. Do what other Mac users do, sell iOS apps until they can afford a PC.
genius!
Wow… Frank… You definitely just threw me off there with your ninja avatar change!
Haha, that’s kind of funny. Reminds of when I first found out about Unity. Back then, I was on Windows, and Unity was on Mac. One of us had to move - and that was me (Unity came to Windows much later). You know, there was a long time when the best game engine on the planet was available on Mac only and there are still quite a few people here that made the move to the Mac just to be able to run Unity (and I never looked back leaving Windows as my “primary” behind )
Besides: One of the really cool things about Macs is that since they have Intel inside, they perfectly run Windows. So you can get the best of both worlds. Like, there’s no better IDE than Visual Studio - so I have Unity running natively on the Mac, and Visual Studio running in VMWare Fusion.
Platform wars really are so yesterday … but … to be honest, I would be very unhappy if I wasn’t able to run a tool like Glyph Designer because I just don’t have a Mac. Just like I would be kind of unhappy if I couldn’t run Genetica because I don’t have Windows … but … I do
Does anyone know what the HeroEngine license costs are? I might be wrong but my guess would be that while it’s super easy to run stuff for Windows on a Mac, it might be a bit more of a challenge to afford HeroEngine. One number I quickly found was $4995 + 15% royalties. VMWare Fusion is much less.
Problem solved
lol! Sorry The other one was getting stale, I needed a change.
Ewwww Visual Studio? Really? You, sir, are insane…
Fine Fine PC wins!
And btw i do sell ios apps.
