When I first installed Unity I had to register it for the free version then it loaded the Island Demo just fine. Then I created a new project and tried opening the Island Demo again. It loads the project except that there is no scene. The only thing in the “Hierarchy” is the “Main Camera”. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Unity 3 times. It doesn’t load the Island Demo like it did before. It makes it look like a blank project with a list of files in the project folder. I’ve attached a shrunk down screenshot of what it looks like when Unity loads.
Open the Islands scene.

Just double click on “Islands” and than push play button! Thats all!
