Seriously – what’s with the spam on these boards anyway? I don’t think I’ve ever seen any forum with such a high spam-to-real-post ratio. Granted, the mods do a good job keeping them deleted on a regular basis, but I still can’t help but think there’s something weird going on. Is the CAPTCHA disabled here or something?
CAPTCHA… That’s a fancy acronym. There’s no visual test when you register on here to thwart bots, maybe there should be. I usually delete about half a dozen spam posts a week or so on here, and I usually catch them before more than a couple people have even seen them. I don’t think the spam level is that high… and some of them are quite funny to read before they get deleted and banned.
But yeah, a visual registration (or CAPTCHA test) would help out.
Some of you old-timers may remember registering without a visual security thing-y, but it’s been enabled for a year or more. These spammers are a dedicated bunch

Ok, I added a small trick to the registration form that should stop spambot scripts (but possibly not spambot humans). At least for a while…
