Hi! I have been reading Sam Teaches Unity, the book, for a few days now. I am almost done the book. I understand it all except for one thing. Coding. I was wondering were i can get deeper tutorials on c# coding for Unity? I would prefer not to spend another 30 dollars on a book. Is there an online tutorial thats helps? Learn game development w/ Unity | Courses & tutorials in game design, VR, AR, & Real-time 3D | Unity Learn whould that be a good place to go? Thanks!
obviously the learn section is a place to go, but aside from that Youtube offers so much help, thats another place to go.
or you could pay someone to teach you some basics.
The internetz is full of knowledge
How I started coding a long long time ago when Facebook and YouTube didn’t even exist ![]()
The learning section for scripting is a good start, watch the tutorials as many times as you need to understand them. Google things you see but do not understand and most importantly, try the stuff you learn within the engine on your own.
It is really important that you develop a strong, basic, foundation about programming. It will help you solve problems (and you will encounter lots problems and bugs over time that require you to sit down and think) and make it easier to find a good way to build your systems.
A good place to continue at is YouTube, there is lots of basic tutorials and some big ones where they walk you step by step through the process of making different game projects.
It is a good idea to start small, don’t attempt to make the next [insert favorite game]. Start with simple stuff like tic-tac-toe, asteroids, pacman etc until you are confident that you know what your are doing. Then expand, a little bit at the time and remember to finish your projects ![]()
Learn C# first. Get a Pluralsight subscription, they have some fantastic video courses on C#.
In one month if you study hard you can complete all their beginner and intermediate C# courses.
Once you’re comfortable with C# as the language, then focus on the Unity specific C# tutorials.
The Pluralsight videos are great and you can get a three month trial as a BizSpark member.
Safaribooksonline.com also has some good books and videos
