I recently jumped from Unity 5.6.7 to 2019, and then again to 2020.1.14 in hope it would fix the null reference errors.
The project contain assets that hasn’t been updated to newer versions due to Unity version limit, such as Playmaker, Masteraudio, Rewired. These later got updated upon versioning to 2019 and seems to be functional now.
I’m not sure what’s causing this null reference error though, the stack trace logging doesn’t give much info about the cause. It just says “Object reference not set to an instance of an object” with no context.
