Hello everyone, i would like to know how many lights in the indoor scene, lets say 50m x 50m, considered normal?
I am using HDRP and, unfortunately, am not able to get rid of lighting artifacts created by baking in my modular scene, there are always color mismatching and ugly seams visible enough to ruin the overall look. I spent last 3 days trying to get decent results with baking, but the time it takes to bake and the result is not satisfying.
So i decided to use the latest area lights, rectangle ones, to fake the light bouncing. It looks good enough for me, but the number of lights in one room reaches 10.
So, do you know how many lights are possible to use at a decent frame-rate by medium-budget video cards, not by 1080ti.
This room uses 5 rectangle lights, and other rooms, part of which you can see in the picture, use around 10 lights (point and rectangle) each.
This is something we can’t really answer. Instead, try doing some tests using the profiler. There are many things that will affect the outcome, such as whether it is forward or deferred rendering, Shadow quality, and a whole bunch of other factors.
Yes, seems like the best way to know limitation is to test it yourself.
But, anyways, thank you for your reply
