Objects Disappearing in Windows Chrome Only

We’ve noticed a web player problem that appears only in the Chrome browser on Windows 7 (so far).

In this particular project we have a white piece of paper on which black dots are drawn. The dots are just very flat, black cylinders that are slightly raised relative to the paper. This works fine in every other browser tested, except Chrome on Windows. In Win Chrome, the dots disappear and reappear depending on where the camera is. As the camera moves across the paper, the dots flash on and off.

The solution was to raise the dots slightly, so they are a greater height above the paper. But I’d like to know why this only happens in one browser. Shouldn’t the web player render the same in all browsers? We’ve also heard that colors look very washed out in Chrome, but I’m not sure if that has something to do with users’ display settings or not.

Unity will never be 100% identical on all platforms. Especially things like z-fighting which is a precision issue, can hardly be the same on all platforms. From my point of view, that is something we have to accept.
