I’m trying to teach my son and one of his neighborhood friends how to program in Unity this summer. Unfortunately, the friend has a Windows XP laptop. We got Unity installed and activated, but as soon we launched it, we noticed something was wrong – where the XYZ axis indicators in the Scene tab are supposed to be, there’s instead a crazy mishmash of triangles.
We bravely forged ahead anyway, adding first a Plane, then a Capsule, and then a Cube. They all render as just a bunch of crazy triangles most of the time. At one point we actually got the cube and plane to render properly in the Game view, but then we lost it again. Though everything apart from the rendering appears to work fine, as you can imagine, it’s unusable as it is.
I’ve attached a screen shot for the curious. I searched the internets but couldn’t find anything that sounded like this problem. (Then again, it’s hard to search for — “Unity Windows crazy triangles” isn’t very specific.) I hope someone will recognize it and know how to fix it. I barely know how to get around in Windows; I did manage to find a control panel that said “ATI” on every tab. Beyond that, I’m quite clueless in this environment… so please type slowly and use small words.
Thanks,
- Joe
