This has NEVER worked on my Sony Vaio, 3Gb RAM, dual 2.0gHz machine with Vista 32-bit.
I click “create new” on the Occlusion screen, select a tiny area and click “bake”. Instant crash, even on Angry Bots.
“umbrapvsprocess.exe has stopped working”.
Can you just not do Occlusion stuff on Windows? Very frustrating.
I posted this before, a couple months ago, in Scripting forum. No one responded.
angry bot is a pretty complex environment. I fear you won’t get away with your specs as umbra is unlikely to run below 1.2GB of RAM usage
selecting a tiny area doesnt help as the oc is always calced globally at least I never saw a difference in time from trying to do it ‘selective’ over global for all areas present.
Occlusion Culling is very tricky to setup correctly and the process crashes easily. Search in the forums and you will see…
I expect Unity 3.5 will improve this significantly.
