Oculus Hardware, and store (newb questions)

New to the VR world, wondering in addition to the all the downloads do I NEED to purchase the hardware to develop for Oculus?

Also is there some place other than their store where one can sell the games?

If you intend to make something polished that you know works, then yes.

Yes, you can also publish to Steam, for example. You will want to integrate the Steamworks SDK for that version of your build, which is a small but extra step you need to take. The harder work is making that stay compatible with your Oculus store build.
