Oculus Quest & Link lagging like Crazy!

When I try to connect the Quest to my computer with Link cable, and enable Link Beta, it starts to lag like crazy!!
Even before I have pressed the Desktop button, which result in even worse lagging and ultimately hang.

I want to connect to Unity to test my development in Unity, but it does not work.
Is there a driver or something for Quest? Or what else can be the reason for the super lag in Link mode?

I have new hardware that is more than the requirements for Quest, even for Rift S:

  • Oculus Quest with original Oculus Link cable
  • Gaming PC with Nvidia RTX 2060, 16GB ram, SSD, Ryzen 7 4000 Series, Win 10
  • Updated with latest Oculus version on PC & Quest
So something must be very wrong somewhere, question is what?

Any help would be very appreciated, thanks:)

I had a dodgy USB-3 cable and went through the full stack of debugging this with the Oculus support.

TL;DR:

  • check the latest driver versions for your motherboard
  • … AND for your USB drivers (they are usually different - a windows drivers, instead of your mobo firmware)
  • AND if those don’t work: try a few different versions of nVidia’s drivers (nv breaks stuff every year in their quest for ultra performance for gamers. Go back a few versions and see if they work better - often there are regression bugs affecting VR)

Apart from that: there is a massive amount of lag and hanging if Unity isn’t actually in Play mode - the Quest seems to get confused about whether its a PC, a Quest, or a Unity player, and you get loads of screen corruption, reboots etc. I leave the thing on the desk (causes it to go idle) until I’ve hit the Play button in Unity Editor, and when leaving Play mode make sure to get the Quest back to idle as quickly as possible.

If none of that helps … contact Oculus support, you might have broken hardware.

Thanks for the answer and your suggestions.
I found out that there where 2 graphic cards in the computer, so it was not using NVIDIA card at all, which explains the lag. However when switching to the NVIDIA card it just go black screen once I enter Link mode. It does not hang because I can exit, but nothing happens, just black screen.
Any ideas?
