Unity’s web request implementation is underwhelming. BestHTTP/2 is the plugin to work anything network-related (APIs, calling endpoints, networking, sockets, etc) in Unity. Giving BestHTTP/2 for free would open Unity for app development more. It would also help publish assets on the asset store related to networking and consuming APIs.
I’m not sure what this thread is about. Do you just ask into the aether that UT somehow should offer a third party asset for free because it’s good? You do know how ownership work, right? UT does not own this third party asset. So they can not give away things they do not own. Are you actually concerned about the general app development or do you just want to save money?
As I said, I’m really confused about this post.

I want everyone to have access to what the plugin has to offer so the apps and plugins ecosystem can grow more easily. Unity can buy them, or they can stop eating and give it for free, I don’t care. Unity can implement their own. I think this is one of the areas where people say “Unity feels unfinished and has to rely on plugins” and I think we’d best eliminate as many of these as we can. Just like Bolt is now free, similar situation.

I don’t understand what’s so hard to understand. ACQUIRE the plugin and give it for free, or implement your own as part of the engine so Unity feels LESS incomplete. That’s it. This isn’t about anyone’s food. I don’t see what’s confusing.
I mentioned the situation is similar to Bolt. Did the Bolt team stop eating? From what I understand Bolt was acquired and given for free because Unity LACKED node-based programming so they BOUGHT ONE and are now implementing their own.
I can’t possibly explain any better please refrain from posting if you are still confused or don’t understand what I’m saying in simple English.
This is supposed to be a very simple feedback, a feedback to make the engine better, more complete, as someone who has used it full-time for over 10 years BestHTTP is the one thing that most projects dealing with anything related to networking can’t live without.
