Who’s game? I can do the artwork.
When you say browser based, what do you mean? Turn based?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but brower based usually means playable in the brower, AKA webplayer.
Yes as in playable in your browser. Like this, Quake Flash
I think it’s still a great idea. I think the most critical aspect of the game would be implementing the moment of terror when the monsters (forgot what they were called) get close to you and begin to molest your troops.
Genestealer.
Well yes, it’s a great idea… When I first started with Unity I wanted to create a space hulk game (remake of vengeance of the blood angels), created a thread about it on the forums.
To put it short: I got told that I shouldn’t do it because Games Workshop is very protective of their IP.

If Games Workshop attack us then we’ll give it to them as a free advergame. Full proof plan!
Games Workshop allow people to make free games and mods. It was or is somewhere on their website.
best find that somewhere then. Or make a differently-named game with different-to-spacehulk visuals
it can still be very similar, just not use any of the same names or items.
Really?? Wow, I have a hard time believing that. I’ll take a look.
If that is true I might apply for this project
edit: Looked, found nothing. Could anyone please give me the source if they have it/find it?
Or maybe if anyone has a good grip on these legal matters, and can tell me if one could make a freeware game or not?
I believe they made a statement like that way back before the Dawn of War series and other Warhammer games. Not sure what their stance is now as Warhammer based mods have dried up because of the commercial offerings.
Games Workshop is well known for having a warehouse full of C&D letters ready to send out at a moment’s notice.
There is information about this on their website. It looks like a freeware project is possible, within certain limitations. It may be easier safer to just remove all specific references. Link
I think you’ll run into more problems with EA than Games Workshop.
They actually seem surprisingly reasonable, as far as games/mods/total conversions go as long as its non-commercial.
They seem a little crazy about their figures though… seems like they’ll bust down your door for making a homemade figure based on their IP even if its for personal use.
I don’t know, I would like to think that GW would have the wherewithal to mention that in the “games and total conversions” section of that page, if that were the case. Otherwise they’re deliberately luring their fans into lawsuits, which I would find hard to believe.
Ugh, conflicting!
I read it myself on the website, and I must say I’d take my chances.
They seem reasonable and levelheaded about it.
