Old Town Kostrzyn/Poland

This movie presents a real-time visualization
made from scratch by myself (except great statues
which are sculpted by Andrew Augustyniak).
This “game-like” visualization presents old town of Kostrzyn,
completely destroyed during the WWII.
The town was creadted based on many old footage.

I took me a few months to made it.
Software used: Maya, Mudbox, Photoshop, Unity.

Hope You like it

Witaj

Welcome: D

Your work is very cool, interesting models, shadows, big map. A bit empty, you could add shaders, effects on the camera. Somewhere on the forums (here) were clouds 3D look.

I can help with something there as you want … my gg 7182262

I use a translator

Hej

pozdr

Hi

I`ve added some camera effects such as DOF, collor correction etc., I tried to add some meshes like crates, cars to fill up the streets but everyone says that THERE ARE NO PEOPLE  I have to make some break from this project… one thing that would be handy is help by the multiplayer version, which is almos done.
Thanks for offering Your help… I will contact you when I will start a new project or maybe some time later to this one
PS. This project was done “after hours”, so there were planty of days that I took me about 12-14h
PS2. Sorry for my english

Cheers

Hey Lucas, you did an amazing job on this one!!!
What about some information about the polycount of the whole scene?

Oh **** this is awesome. Wait a sec let me just pick up my jaw from the ground. How many different models are there? All the houses and details. And did you do all the texturing also? They look so good. I would love to have my hands on the web player or standalone.

Świetne !

Glad to hear that You like it

Well, the whole scene consist of 4,5M triangles… I made a few hundred assets, there are many things in the shopping windows such as cigarettes, wine bottles, guitares, paints, woman huts and many many more stuff that is not shown in the video. There are 30 different kind of upper houses and also 30 shops and doors (lower parts) so that I mixed them in different ways like puzzles to make more variations. The textures are a mixtures of my own photos, google searching and from sites with textures, but on every texture I spent a few hours to make it look good and fit to my models. I also hand painted a lot of shadows and highlights on the textures.

Cheers,
Lucas

truly amazing!

nice work , it’s very beautiful

Pozdrawiam

That looks so realistic. Great job with modeling, texturing and Beast.

poops pants

That is awesome, the detail, the amount of work, the textures.
I had to go and play my old RTCW after that.

You should be proud of yourselves for that work.

Glad to hear that You like it
If You have any questions feel free to ask

Cheers,
Lucas

I’d love to walk around that place! Any chance of a webplayer?

Very nice but two things:

  1. you might want parallax mapping on the floor stone cobbles, there’s a fixed parallax mapping shader somewhere that accepts shadows.
  2. why is it all green?

Other than those two suggestions I think the modelling is fantastic - just let down by the ugly green hue on everything.

The video, models and building remind me so much of Assassin creed -And I’ve just been playing Assassin creed. Good work on it, It’s awesome!

Hi there

Zomby138: Well, the thing is that I am trying so sell it to the city of Kostrzyn. If they say refuse to buy it, then I will drop a link to a standalone version  But if they do, then I will just put they logo on it, and it will be on the net anyway

hippocoder: 1.Yes, I could do that. There is a normal map but no parallax
2. The green tint is to make it somethink like Matrix style or Assasins Creed. It was done purposely.
But it depends on Your own taste. Some may like it, and some not

My biggest inspirations were: Assasins Creed and Mafia 2

Cheers,
Lucas

I like the green hue, and I look forward to either the stand alone or the webplayer. Good luck with selling it to the city, you deserve to get some money for this.

I recently finished Mafia 2, I really loved the city in that :).

Beautiful job! Well done. and keep the green. One of the reason lots of stuff looks crap is because people don’t do any color correction and tints to bring it all together. good job again!
