In Unity 2017.4 (LTS) or Unity 2018.2/2018.3, default ads package is 2.0.8 when newest version is 3.xx something. I mean, why an old version of Unity ads (2.0.8 or something like that), is the only version of ads in package as verifed? Other version (the newest one, 3.xx something are not verified)? Are there plans for verify of the newest ads package versions in Unity 2017/2018?
Unity Analytics got the newest version with each unity release (as a verified package).
There are a couple of different situations that I want to clarify:
In 2017.4 and all versions before Package Manager, the 2.0.8 version of the Ads SDK was included by default. We relied on the Asset Store as the recommended way to get the latest version of the Ads SDK. So it is unlikely we will update 2017.4 to include any other version of the Ads SDK.
For any version with Package Manager, we are working towards getting the latest release of the Ads SDK certified every time now.
That said, we always recommend using the latest version of the Ads SDK available. The Ads SDK team always tests new SDK releases across supported versions of Unity. The Verified Package process is an independent process handled by the Package Manager release team and it only happens when the Ads SDK requests for a package to be verified. It’s mostly boring process reasons as to why it hasn’t happened so far.
