Do you remember Galaga for Amiga? A kind of space shooter, the most popular one I think. Really great stuff. Last week I found nice educational tutorials for Unity at 3D Buzz site, which base on the same cool idea. Strongly recommend it for newbies 
In my implementation I modified code a bit, and add graphics of course. Have good fun

There is a Windows and OSX version of Deluxe Galaga with some enhancements, called Warblade, here: http://www.warblade.as/index.asp
It’s a good start, though it’s really just the meteor shower bonus stage, where’s the rest of the game
