omg why is mecanim so much different......................................... ........

none of my models work on my new 4.1 install, wtf they work just wonderful on my 3.5 machine so why do I have a) find tutorials to teach me the new system and b) spend lots of time with it

WHY NO LEGACY SYSTEM ALTERNATIVE???

I don’t need all the bells and whistles of mecanim I just want characters that can walk and swing.

WHERE DO I GET STARTED LEARNING HOW TO CONVERT MY OLD MODELS I BOUGHT WITH ANIMATIONS AS COMPONENTS THAT WORK PERFECTLY IN 3.5 VERSION OF UNITY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Thanks. I desperately need to figure this out and I have a hundred + models so wtf do I really have to spend a lot of time on each one??? ffs

Also I’m not new to unity just this computer is separate email and separate unity all together from my home machine that I’ve been using up until now.

CAN I TRADE MY Unity 4 PRO for Unity 3.5.7 PRO??? I just bought it this week at work… if I have to manually spend another 60 seconds/model setting anything up for all these models it would be worth rolling back…hence my frustration.

Nevermind, I realized I can add an animation component and drag them onto it, don’t have to use mecanim.

But for some reason when the animation plays it disappears offscreen, if I disable a default animation it spawns correctly. Never had a problem with this model doing that on any other version of Unity, and it’s the exact same model off my portable hd.

A) Calm down and take deep breaths. The entire old animation system is still there.

B) You probably have the skeleton child object positioned weirdly. Try setting its transform position to 0,0,0.
