One guy, LightWave3D, and Unity3D

I’ve started a blog about what it takes for one person to do a weekly game, using LightWave3D and Unity3D.

It’s my way of giving back. I’ll post a few secret awesome scripts, and cover as many of the more complex issues as possible in the time I’ll have between eps.

Take a look and let me know what you think!

Looks interesting, I’ll keep checking on it.

+1, I like the idea very much - will check it out too!

Should be interesting to see your work :), I’ll keep tabs on it.

Title sounds like one of those disgusting videos like ‘One man One Jar’ hahaha

EDIT: Immaturity at its finest.

Alright, I wondered if this thread would go there. And in four posts, no less

Sounds nice.
I will watch this.
Sadly i wait a long time for your scripts for lightwave to import into unity that you and and romney (maybe not the right name) made together :frowning:
Hoping for interesting scripts now

Well, what happened there was that Rom and I kept getting caught up in other things. And actually he and Petter were doing most of the work, I just helped where I was needed. I’m not sure what became of that, and I think LightWave 11.5 will have some kind of better Unity support.

I know LW 11.x already has a few things to better support Unity integration, but I don’t use them much, due to it already being a pretty cut and dry process.

I will, however, discuss those things on the blog for this game!

Out of curiosity, why is LightWave your tool of choice? Just a personal preference, or is there something specific?

Well, I was the lead Mac developer on LightWave for a few years, so that’s one thing

I was a Blender guy before that, and a Strata Studio Pro guy before that.
And I know my way around most of the apps out there now. I even own a copy of Modo.

But I prefer LightWave because I can make it get out of my way, and it’s fast, fast, fast.

Plus I can rig, animate, and export to Unity very easily.

I know, every program has its cheerleaders. No point in another platform war. But I still haven’t seen anything that made me instantly decide it was better for game development or modeling in general than LightWave.

Looks nice, I like it!

No - not trying to start another Product vs. Product discussion. I used LightWave years ago and LOVED it. Don’t see a lot of people using it these days though, hence the curiosity.

The project looks cool. Keen to see where it goes.

Just bumped the version up to 1.5. Fixed a number of things people didn’t like. I’ll be documenting that in the blog, specifically what I did wrong
