Only Game View, Opening any other panel crashes 2022.13

Is this where we’re at in terms of stability?

Sorry, title is wrong: 2022.2.13 is the full version = latest.

That sounds like a non-LTS bleeding edge build of Unity.

Anytime you go beyond LTS you are an unpaid test pilot.

But this is pretty extreme in terms of bug… opens with only Game view, full screen, with the window buttons (red, green, orange) on the right… which is super odd.

Personally I’m still running 2018 for iOS and 2020 for Android (only to build the binary).

Bleeding edge is like that. The “test pilot” analogy is actually quite accurate.

As a point of reference, our company is presently upgrading from 2020 to 2021 but we’ve only done about half the projects. It has taken just over a year of hard work by the integration team to get 100% of our core working again under 2021. Yes, it is April 2023 right now.

I understand all that, just didn’t realise how extreme the bugs could be.

I use a barebones 2017 for learning shader coding, as it’s FAST to iterate etc.

And 2019.LTS (nested prefabs…) for all projects… and wrongly thought that 2022.2 would be approaching some kind of LTS like stability.

THANK YOU for confirming I should be far more conservative. Tuning back into Tucker Carlson tonight.

Happy Easter!

This is THE single-most annoying thing: every year Unity gets sloooooooooooower and sloooooooooooower.

I still have a full ride Unity5 perpetual license on an old MacBook… that thing is BLISTERINGLY fast compared even to 2017… and every subsequent year is slower and slower.

But what are you gonna do? It’s still by far the funnest engine to hack in and easily the one I know the best.
