Only getting sound on some iphones

Hi
I am streaming 3d film from youtube into my app and getting reports of no sound on some iphones.

Any ideas how to fix?

I know at least one is an iphone 12 that doesn’t get the sound

I appreciate there isn’t much to go on here but that is part of my problem. I get sound on my iphone, and also in emulation in the Editor.There is also no problem on Android.

this makes replicating the problem pretty tricky. So I guess I am looking for known problems and suggestions on how I might replicate the problem so i can identify and fix it

are you using one of those asset store plugins for playing youtube videos?
(i remember one of them had similar issue, certain resolution(s) didn’t play audio for some phones or something)

Do you think that is the problem? Issue is the developer is not great offering support and this streaming is critical to my app.

that’s the one, i got fast replies from their email (it was issue in android yt video audio last time, but i think it got fixed back then).

in the reviews theres link to this old post, in case its “user error” (if still applicable today)

thanks - I feel for that guy! So you definitely think it is the plugin (assuming “mute” is out the equation)? They get sound when going to youtube direct or playing music.

Are there any other 360 video players that stream from youtube, should I not got the support I need?

i’ve used only that one, previously the issue was that in some resolutions audio didn’t work (in android),
so if possible you could try forcing different resolution video to be loaded (for testing)…

or better if you find someone with iphone12 to do some testing with the current app,
could try unity discord servers or other gamedev ones.

thanks for your help! turns out it was user error! The volume control for phone calls stops the sound in the app. No idea if this is a apple problem, plug in problem or something else. If anyone finds out please let us know!

I did not know about this group - is this somewhere I can ask people to test my app? I am a one man band with a couple of android phones and access to a friend’s iphone. If this is somewhere I can post my app and ask people to give it a go that would be amazing

for android, this remote thing is pretty great, not sure if theres similar for ios…

i have been searching for emulators but not found any that do the job. Who would have thoughts that Apple would want us to buy all their products to develop on their ecosystem
