Hi folks,
I just downloaded the HoloLens Technical Preview from here: Unity development for HoloLens - Mixed Reality | Microsoft Learn and when going through the Holograms 100 tutorial here: HoloLens (1st gen) Basics 100 - Getting started with Unity - Mixed Reality | Microsoft Learn, the step “Chapter 4” which mentions about exporting from Unity to VS is where I am stuck.
When I click File → Build Settings → scroll down to Windows Store under Platforms, I notice that it says: “No Windows Store Module loaded” and below that there is a button which says: “Open Download Page”. When I click the button, it takes me here: http://beta.unity3d.com/download/24077ef8c12f/TargetSupportInstaller/UnitySetup-Metro-Support-for-Editor-5.4.0b10-HTP.exe which returns a HTTP 404 error.
Can you please “light it up” ?
Thanks,
Prashant
Hello,
Can you please try this link to download metro support?
http://beta.unity3d.com/download/24077ef8c12f/public_download.html.
Thank you,
Wesley
Thanks! That worked. However it’d be great if the actual link from Unity IDE itself works, so please get it corrected soon.
Regards,
Prashant
Not sure what you mean by Unity IDE, where you using MonoDevelop or Visual Studio?
The website for the technical preview for HoloLens is up and running.
Could you be more specific please?
Like I mentioned in my original post:
When I click File → Build Settings → scroll down to Windows Store under Platforms, I notice that it says: “No Windows Store Module loaded” and below that there is a button which says: “Open Download Page”. When I click the button, it takes me here: http://beta.unity3d.com/download/24…tup-Metro-Support-for-Editor-5.4.0b10-HTP.exe which returns a HTTP 404 error.
I am saying that when you click on that button, the link above is non-existent, and that’s what I would like to get fixed.
The URL you gave me above is not the obvious way for developers to download the module right?
That is a good issue, thank you for pointing that out.
On the website, the are install steps on what is needed for the technical preview. It does state to install UWP support and a link to click, this downloads Metro Support in Step 2.
Yep, agree with you on the install steps…Actually I stumbled onto this due to my own ignorance of only following Step 1 there, and not going through Step 2 :). Thanks for your help Wesley.
No problem Bug has been filed on the issue. Thank you for feedback
I’m experiencing this same issue with the current build, the Download button in Build Settings takes me to http://beta.unity3d.com/download/e3e057da3607/UnitySetup-Metro-Support-for-Editor-5.4.0b24-HTP.exe which is a 404. I’ve tried http://beta.unity3d.com/download/e3e057da3607/public_download.html based on the previously posted link but it’s also a 404 page. Also, when I go to install this there isn’t a destination automatically selected. Where should this package be installed relative to the main application’s directory?
you can grab the installers from here, make sure to install Unity in a fresh folder/place.
I’d say the best way to solve this is to install the “UWP Runtime” which is mentioned on this page: Unity development for HoloLens - Mixed Reality | Microsoft Learn which will enable the functionality in Unity. See the “Download Technical Preview” section on that page.
The direct link to download the executable is: http://beta.unity3d.com/download/f990cb18ca69/UnitySetup-Metro-Support-for-Editor-5.4.0b24-HTP.exe). Notice the change in the path to the exe download location.
Hi, looks like the 5.4.0f3 download links are now broken :
downloading the 5.4.0f3 (Hololens development) on a W10 enterprise machine. I’m getting some "…problem downloading " error messages while running the download assistant. One is for some kind of documentation, the other is for the Metro component, thus preventing any Windows store builds once installed.
“http://beta.unity3d.com/download/b21dfedb4779/TargetSupportInstaller/UnitySetup-Metro-Support-for-Editor-5.4.0f3.exe The error message is : File Not Found (404)”
tried the 32bit version : download fails right away. file not Found.
Link broken on the main site to Unity technical prefiew: Unity development for HoloLens - Mixed Reality | Microsoft Learn
5.5 Beta is the way to go from November…
Which link isn’t working?
Hi the link itself works - it starts the download assistant - but files are missing during the install process. It is no longer possible to install 5.4.0f3 (Hololens development) properly.
Having the same issue, the most recent Technical Preview (5.4.0f3) release has a broken URL for the .NET Runtime download, causing the Unity installer to complain of having ‘lost connection’ when it tries to download the installer for the Runtime.
Same problem for a number of the earlier versions of the Technical Preview, would appreciate this getting fixed a lot.
Thanks - we’re looking into this.
I was able to download the Assist at one point yesterday, but now I receive this error when opening up the bootstrapper:
A fix for this is in process, will post back when its resolved - sorry for the trouble.
