Open source 3D game engine coming to Apple iPhone

This just hit the wires over at insidemacgames.com

LivingArcana.com has announced that it has started development of an open-source 3D engine for the Apple iPhone platform in an effort to make the iPhone a viable option as a mobile gaming platform. Gregory Ray, a lead organizer of LivingArcana.com, has hired Brazilian programmer Gutemberg Ribeiro, creator of the open source Conceptus game engine, to port his engine over to the iPhone platform. The port will remain open source and will be available under LGPL license to allow true 3D game development on the iPhone.

Hm, I can’t find anything on the tubes about this Conceptus engine (other than the news that it’s coming to iPhone)… anyone has heard of it?

Good morning Aras!

I can’t find anything either, which is odd. If I do find something I’ll post and email you.

I guess it’s still in the Conceptus stage! Bwahahahaahaha

I’ll be waiting until Releaseus

Excellent Mr. C, excellent!

Allready running on all those platforms and nothing on the interweb about it. Very fishy indeed.

If anyone does find any info I would love to see it tho.

This is supposedly a screen shot from the engine. The site is all in german or something. /shrug

Lemme see…

The iPhone runs OS X (except on a non i386 CPU)
The iPhone runs an embedded version of OpenGL
Apple has implied XCode support to iPhone ~ Feb 08

So … who needs this even if it weren’t vapor?

Seems like we could see Unity apps running on the iPhone before this thing is “released”
