Open testing of the Unity 3.4.1 webplayer

We’re closing in on our next release of Unity version 3.4.1.

Before we release to the world, we would appreciate everyone checking that the web player auto-update works.

Providing you have the current released WebPlayer (3.4.0f5) already installed, please test the player we’ve uploaded here:

http://files.unity3d.com/chris/AutoUpdate/WebPlayer.html

You should see this if the auto-update is successful:

If the player on that page causes any problems, please tell us immediately via replying to this thread.

Thanks very much!

Unity Team.

Worked for me. On Safari, using Activity Monitor I could see files being fetched from http://webplayer.unity3d.com/autodownload_webplugin_beta.

Works perfect on Windows 7 64 Bit - Firefox 6.0.2

Worked great - Windows 7 6$ - Chrome

Worked fine here.

Safari 5.0.5
OS X 10.6.7

No problem mac os x snow leopard an lion

Works fine…,

Win7 64bit:
Chrome 13.0782.218m
Firefox 6.01 Firefox 6.02

Works gr8. Why exactly does it say trial version in the bottom right though? Aren’t Unity devs supposed to have the full version?

Working fine here: Mac OS X 10.6.8, Safari 5.1 Firefox 6.0.2 Chrome 14.0.835.159 beta. Also, my still unpublished web game works fine after the plugin update.

The only gripe I still have about this whole plugin updating thing is its stealthy behavior, which I find really impolite. I strongly believe users should be at least notified, if not even asked for permission, when executable code is updated anywhere in their computers, much more so when it’s done in system-wide installation paths. Not doing so is just flat-out setting a bad precedent, in my opinion.

Other than that, loving Unity 3.4, kudos!
