OpenGL 4.5 and ES 3+ on Windows with 5.1.1f1

The release notes for 5.1 read:

Without any command line arguments, like -force-glcore, I have these OpenGL Graphics APIs for Windows available: OpenGL2, OpenGLCore, OpenGLES2, OpenGLES3 (although selecting OpenGLES3 crashes my editor).

My questions are:

  • Does -force-glcore or -force-opengl do anything in Unity Editor 5.1.1f1 64-bit for Windows that can’t be done via the Edit>Project Settings>Player>Graphics APIs for Windows?
  • Is OpenGLCore the “experimental support for OpenGL 4.5”?

The command line arguments just switch editor to use that specific API (no matter what’s set in the project settings).

“GLCore” is indeed “OpenGL 3.x/4.x” support. It’s still not “shipping quality” on desktop, but I think in 5.2 the state should be better than what you had in 5.1.
