I have a project on disk. When I select and open it in Unity Hub, it instead opens a project called “MyFirstGame”, and will create it if it doesn’t exist on disk, and it is impossible to open my existing project.
OK, It turns out that it’s just demanding that I build and publish another of the billion copies of their shit intro tutorial garbage game, and it’s going to hold the entire editor hostage until I do what they demand.
Answer for everyone who reads this. If you select a tutorial, you are given no choice as to whether you complete the tutorial. You either complete it, or Unity thinks you’re so completely worthless at reading and understanding menu options that they believe it is of the utmost importance that you be prohibited from ever using their software.
This includes the time-consuming and completely self-explanatory build and publish option, which you cannot under any circumstances skip and move on with your life.
