Opinions on an FPS game that removes skill?

I’m working on another thing at the moment, but wanted some feedback on a concept.

I have a lingering thought, what would an FPS game look like if everyone cheats?

That is, let’s say everyone had perfect aim and all death was instant and everyone could see through walls?

Playing around with the concept I’m landing on something akin to 3d Hotline Miami, but when you press the iron sites it instantly snaps to the nearest target.

No life bar, just one weapon at a time. No reloading. No ammo count. But finite ammo in each weapon and firing when it’s empty would throw it causing a stun.

Now obviously this would mean that the game would need to work as a puzzle and rounds would need to be very fast.

Single player would be storming buildings just like Hotline.

Multiplayer would be more like counter strike.

And it would be very very fast.

Like 30 second rounds.

I’m curious how I could make that work.

I definitely want to avoid camping so it seems like see players through walls would be a perfect fox for this.

Maybe have a button for aiming and another for listening so that when you are listening it you can see other people’s locations?

And maybe have a delay between aiming and listening, a very small delay, so that you have moments to make a move?

Probably something like this would require lots of environmental interaction.

I feel like there’s something here if I can figure out the angles.

Any thoughts?

I also have a killer name for it that is somehow not taken, but I guess there’s no point in bringing it up since I can’t say what it is until I’m at that stage.

I don’t know if it’ll be fun to play but the idea of an online game where everybody is “cheating” and therefore nobody can be cheating is unique.

In multiplayer someone could still cheat in a mod to auto target everyone automatically, removing reaction times.

So do you want to be policing cheating in a game about cheating?

This doesn’t remove skill at all, it just changes what skills are in use.
