My question to you is: would you like to see OrenVideo in unity asset store?
the reason i’m asking is that i’m not sure about the asset store yet, but if your answer is yes, i would like to know:

  • for what purpose? in-game, cut scene etc…
  • which platform? pc,mac,linux, android, ios
  • if you need to play videos, what is your current solution and is it fast enough?

Up until now, I wasn’t aware of OrenVideo and I was actively searching for that kind of solution! It would be a huge benefit for you to be in the Asset Store.
Although, you would need to make some essential licensing to conform with the existing store licenses. Your price is extremely high compared to any other package in the Asset Store, but you are probably aware of that. Just to make it clear: I understand why the price is high, but I am usually in a minority.

You are probably aware that OrenVideo is totally impressive!

thanks for your reply, and your kind words about OrenVideo.

the prices on my site is priced for native lib for non unity engines i’m aware that for the asset store the price will need to be lower (as it will be used only inside unity engine).
as for the asset store license this is what i’m having issue with but, it depends on unity users, the more users asking for my solution the more i make it a priority to find solution that meet unity users needs in terms on price and use…

Where are all unity users, are they all happy with current solution?

Yes interested, but can you provide demo apk?

I eval Bink before but they don’t support unity yet.

sorry no demo, unity license doesn’t really protect us, letting users download a demo basically expose all of it.
i could let the users some kind of a trial version, but that’s just says the user won’t enjoy from all the features and couldn’t test it as it suppose to be tested.

i can say that from my internal test i did i can say that OrenVideo performs very well, how well? i tested 4 720p videos with alpha and the speed was amazing…

as for Bink: i think unity support isn’t the problem, the problem is price, quality etc…
as for OrenVideo: i can assure everyone that once you will see it in action and work with it, you wont search for anything else…

i want to hear what users think and based on that i will decide if i will put it in the asset store or not.

I have almost never seen that people give feedback on something that is not actually available.
Usually you are getting feedback as soon as you have a package in the Asset Store, or if you provide a demo version. I believe a demo may also work for you. Just integrate a water mark over the whole video textures to be sure that no one will use it in a commercial context. You could easily integrate the water mark before you push the texture to Unity without a significant performance hit.

The feedback i’m asking is not on OrenVideo but for the possibility to have OrenVideo in the asset store, i’m asking people to say if they need such tool or not.

as for the watermark, i already have some kind of water mark but not before “the texture pushing”, as performance is critical… but maybe for unity store it will be good idea for a trial/demo version.

I absolutely need this. There simply isn’t anything else that can do what this does and it would be useful for menus, cut scenes and in game. I’m very interested in having it on the Asset Store. For a number of reasons, I only buy from the Asset Store these days, if I can help it. Please make it happen (soon)!
