Orientation needed

Hello everybody.

I’m very new to Unity and I had a starting project in mind but I’m completely lost looking for the right info.
I’ve been watching a few videos and tried the initial tutorial but I’d like to “enter” Unity in a specific direction and, in my experience, sometimes it’s better to be pointed in the right direction by people with knowledge about the matter.

I want to create a project that I think it’d be easier and quicker than a fully fledged videogame, but I can’t find what I need for it.
It’d be some sort of model viewer/editor. Imagine I want to make a strategy videogame but with a base/building editor, only I’d be making the editor first. The editor would have a building viewer and you’d be able to choose between a few buildings and change their primary and secondary colors/materials, choose accesories like defenses, etc. Also, I’d like it to have different cameras to choose angles to see the building or even the background/enviorement (as in a plain color or put it in a 3D landscape). Ideally, I’d like it to have the ability to export the result into a picture but that’s secondary.
That would be the first step, the next would be creating a base with the customized buildings and such (it’s just a general idea).

To clarify, I’m still looking for info and watching tutorials by myself. I am learning about how to export and import the models I make in 3D first, I’m just a little bit overwhelmed by the amount of info and the lack of knowledge I have. So, if someone can give me some directions if there’s already material or examples of what I’m trying to do (or even specific step by step tutorials) I think I’ll get started much quicker.

If this is the kind of message that irks people on forums (“Help me do my particular thing!” hehe) please let me know and I’ll delete it and try to be more autonomous in my first steps. But all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your time.

Google and/or YouTube are your friends

Yeah, yeah, I found some information needed, like exporting models to make them compatible with Unity and such. But I’ve seen there are very specific tutorials for very specific things, only not what I’m looking for.

Eventually, I will probably figure it all out but I asked just in case somebody knew where to point me at. Sorry again if my question was too basic. I’ll keep on looking.
