Wow I love it!

bug: Walking over decals paints the decals on the player.

Oops, darn not putting those projections on a different layer, thank you very much for pointing that out, I guess there’s some things we missed.

the game completely loads first, then i see the main menu screen and suddenly i get redirected to Domain name for sale - M2H and can’t test the game.

Sorry for the game breaking, I had added some code last night and the updated game was approved this morning after I announced the game and it broke, all is good now, please test away.

Pretty cool, issues I could notice were:

-Crosshair is a little off
-Trees disappear when you’re close to them

Rather contrived, terribly overused art style.

The grass popping and the trees disappearing are a neat feature.

It was probably not tested very well, on a Macbook the mouse doesn’t work and you can only use the trackpad. The mouse didn’t disappear, it sat on the crosshairs.

On the high score screen, the font is too big or the space is too small. So you cannot see what you are typing after a few letters.

The colors were well chosen, that’s about it.

You couldn’t have said that a little nicer? :frowning:

Criticism is nice, but it all depends on how you say it or else the OP will take it harshly.

It doesn’t seem contrived, since the content of the game is just as cartoony as the art style (shooting stand-ins for the former vice president would be really off-putting in a realistic-looking game).
And not every game needs to have a revolutionary art style; this one can sit comfortably with the other 90% of games that look good despite using a popular art style. It seems like you’re being a little rough on someone’s first game, especially for such relatively minor things.

To the OP; I thought it was fun! But I would turn up the detail distance a little to stop the grass from disappearing, and limit how many letters can be put in the high score screen so that you can’t type more than fits.

I actually enjoyed the art style. It has a simplistic oldschool feeling, not a bad thing if you ask me.

Here’s some feedback:
First level is too easy. Not that it wasn’t fun at first, but it didn’t take long before I lost most of my motivation to keep playing due to repetitiveness, which got me very tired. Then this old man came and shot me down quite fast, I didn’t stand a chance, but I moved to a new level, that was cool. But all my energy was drawn from the previous, so I stopped playing.

First impression rating:
GRAPHICS:

GAMEPLAY:

I must say it’s a great first videogame! I’m making a videogame for the first time myself, so I know how it is, congrats! Really hope to see more games from you!

Wow, thank you everyone for checking out the game and posting feedback. I’m actually going on vacation for a couple of days, but I’ll work on addressing everyones suggestions as soon as I’m back.

@Bumbaz The trees disappearing are a feature to prevent the tree from being able to get between the camera and character, at the time I wasn’t able to get them to fade smoothly, sorry about the effect being a bit rough, as for the crosshair issue, I’ll have to check it out when I get back, but thank you for the input.

@JRavey Sorry about the overused art style, I’m kinda a sap for goofy cartoony games I guess, it fit the game content the best when we were designing it, I guess you might want to ignore our second game = same art style, sorry. As for the it not working well on a Macbook, I didn’t have access to someone with one when we were beta testing, in all irony I did just meet someone with one, so I’ll try to have them help me get that working better on Mac, thank you for your feedback about the game.

@Baracuda771 It’s ok, I know it’s overused but thank you for trying.

@Jason Crap, buffer overflows! I’ll fix the too many letters in the high score entering, I should have seen that, I’ll check into the grass distance, if memory serves, we were having trouble in certain levels with the frame rate if the distance wasn’t reduced, but thank you very much for your assessment of our game.

@dogzerx Thank you for posting about our game, your feedback was very informative, I’ll have to see about shortening the levels a bit, I look forward to checking out your game when you finish it, keep me informed

Thanks to everyone who checked out the game and even those that didn’t, you’re all awesome, I’ll fix things when I return, until then, test away.

Hm, I get the GUI but everything else is just a blue background. I’ve tried this on two computers with the same results.

Same here - this is all I get

Ahhh, crap. I’ll check into it as soon as I can, going forward, anyone experiencing this issue please post your system details if you could, hopefully it will help me determine what’s happening.

No problem, but stand up for yourself a little. If he sounded a little harsh, don’t feel obligated to just take it. I mean, take the advice from him, but ask him to phrase it a little better. I don’t think this world should be so mean all the time.

hmm same problem here with the blue screen…

The machines I tried it on are:

Laptop: Macbook Pro OSX10.6.4 Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz, 2GB DDR2, 256MB 8600M GT
Desktop: Windows 7 Ultimate x64, Core 2 Quad 2.67GHz, 8GB DDR2, 1GB HD4890

Hope that helps, though it may be that everyone is getting the problem? If someone posts that it’s working for them, then it may be only for some people.

Edit: Almost forgot, both of them were using Google Chrome. Also tried it with IE on Windows.

i enjoyed that game thank you  i will be looking forward to eney other projects you have made or making

Got it to work love the game.

Hey i LOVE this game, got almost 5k points, decent frames and really fun and gory just as i like it  I had one question, when the enemys die, how did you make the blood pool expand? Ive been trying to figure that out myself but I havent gotten far with it unfortunately :stuck_out_tongue:
