Own mesh for standard water

Hi
Trying to make a custom mesh for water in my game but all my attempts of creating this mesh in blender fail when in unity.

As can be seen in this picture half of the mesh refracts t and the other half reflects if i move the mouse it will either increa

se the area reflecting or decrease it . Sometimes if i position just right all the mesh will either refract or reflect. Anyone else have this issue its super frustrating. The circular mesh in the corner is the unity water prefab which reflects/refracts correctly i copied its detail exact but it does not help

Just downloaded a packagage called aqua-lite and it also just messes up with any other mesh . Why if i have the exact same script parameters etc for my own mesh does it no work is there some special code in the water prefabs?
