Oxygen : a turn based strategy game.

Check the last post for latest build / news.

Update :

Hello,

We are developing a turn-based (survival) strategy game, called Oxygen.

Versions :

The game is a composite of the Single player and the Two player version.
The single player version is a 3 dimensional exploration game, and the Two player version
is a competitive (browser based) board game.

Gameplay :

Gameplay, consists of two actions : movement and rotation.
A player can move across the board using connected tiles,
and these connections can be reconfigured by rotating the tiles around the player.

Both the actions use up the limited supply of oxygen that a player starts with.
When playing against an opponent, navigate the map collecting oxygen (refills)
or not letting the other player collect theirs.

The goal is to stay alive on the map the longest and outlast your opponent !

Single player mode, uses the same mechanic as an exploration game.
You will solve an absurd gameworld, navigate treacherous terrain
and mine for oxygen all the while trying not to suffocate !

Playable build (two player version) :

Click the link below to play a small browser build for the two player mode.

press H while playing to see controls.
the web build will take about 30 seconds to load after pressing (S) key. please be patient

Oxygen is still in it’s initial stages of development.
We will be including Pods with various abilities that can be put into play simultaneously.
A variety of tiles with odd behaviors and multiple game modes.

In addition to these, we have a map editor under development, with a variety of paper-cut, animated
textures and polygonal models creating an absurd and interesting gameworld.

we are looking forward to getting feedback from the community.

Hello,

We have been trying out a new art style !

For the square tiles and the web builds, we will be using the newer and simpler tiles that we are now previewing. we call then pixel tiles.
They are much easier to prototype and faster to build.

Here is a quick preview of the editor for the new pixel tiles :

Hello,

We are releasing a small browser build for the single player version of oxygen.
It was created using the map-editor we last previewed, and features the pixel tiles.

Specifically we are looking to ascertain if the game is playable or not, how easy is it to solve the maps and any other technical difficulties that you might encounter.

we would really welcome your feedback.
thank you.

I’m digging the visuals a lot, nice work!

Thank you !

I like the whole style you’ve got going on. And I just love hexagons
How is it coming along?

Feedback:
I tried the webplayer but I’m not a fan of the controls. Turning the avatar before moving feels a bit wrong. And I don’t think being able to fall off the map really adds something to the game. It’s not like you can jump gaps so the only reason why you would fall is by pressing the wrong button by accident. I think that that could become frustrating.

I think the game is cool and original. Reminded me a little of labyrinth (boardgame). Goodluck!

Hello,

we really appreciate your feedback !
It is nice of you to take the time to share your thoughts

we are working on improving the controls and the camera
and you are absolutely right about the falling down bit, we are removing that as well.

we will have another build uploaded by the next week.
currently we are re-working the art style and we are adding a two player mode to the game’s editor.

thank you again for taking the time to play the game !

p.s the game was originally conceived as a board game, but we could never get the rotate mechanic to function in the analogue mode !
