Panning + scale issues

Hi it looks like I have some sort of scale issue. When importing something from 3dsmax everything comes in at scale of 0.01. What is the reason for that? Why does Unity need to completely unnecessary scale my models? Other thing is it looks like because of this scaling or something else when I pan around my scene with middle mouse button the everything seems to be shaking. One of the reasons I can think of is that everything is so small (again, why would it nilly willy scale stuff?). When I change stuff to scale of 1 it still shakes when I am panning.
Any ideas?

Well known problem that - just set the scale on the import to 1.
