Resurrecting this thread because I have the same problem in Unity 2018.3.3f1. Not even the dropdown appears!

Well since 2 years have passed and i gained some experience. I would suggest to check controllers and parameters on the left side in animator. Guess u dont have it

I have spent an hour thinking there was something wrong with Unity and I just hadn’t added parameters on the left side! Thank you for this, I’m a bit rusty these days.
