Parent rotates around child's axis

Basically, I have a rigged character and have selected his hand. In the first photo, the bone (from rigging) is in place. When I attach a child to it and try to rotate the bone, the bone uses the child’s axis to rotate on. Why is this?

Now in more detail, I would like the bone (rig) to rotate around its own axis, not its child’s. Does anybody have an idea why this is the way it is? How do I fix it?

For people in the future, I had to play with the Center/Pivot button to fix this. Click it if you have this problem and it will fix itself.
