Part of frame turns black when using DoF on MacOS

This seems to happen on specific gpu’s, but right now we’re having the issue on a brand new Macbook Pro 16".

All the cameras that use volumes with DoF enabled get these black artifacts, where part of the image is completely black. How much of it turns black changes with the settings, but we can’t get any near blur working at all since setting the “Start” and “End” fields to anything but 0 starts showing the artifact.

The sample count setting on the HDRP asset doesn’t change anything either.

We’re using HDRP 7.1.6 and Unity 2019.3.0f1 and we don’t have any issues on the Windows computers we’re using at the moment.

Is this a bug or a setting somewhere?

And for reproducability we tried creating a brand new HDRP demo project which also had the same issue when adding DoF.

Bump. Having the same issue as well.

Also experiencing the same thing. @themeshpotato , did you create a bug? I’d love to vote on it through the Issue Tracker!

I’ve filed a bug report here: Unity Issue Tracker - [HDRP][macOS] Depth of Field effect becomes black in Game view when Focus Mode is set to Manual

Got it on all my Macs and any kind of DOF (Use Physical Camera, Manual) and all latest HDRP (7.1.8, 7.2.1) and Unity Editor (2019.3.2, 2019.3.0) — blurred area goes black. Voted on bug. Has anybody a workaround? On the same iMac (latest 2019, AMD Radeon Pro 580x) works fine in bootcamped Windows.
