Particle system configuration for blood?

For a specific reason I can only use a particle system for the blood effect but I want it to look pretty dark and realistic. Are there any good configurations out there?

I gotta save time that’s why I can’t really toy around with the particle system to get the effect.

Using a blood splatter texture should make it look nice. Maybe have them fall to the ground but have them disappear before they touch the ground. Have a slow rotation on them too.
