Particle System Module: Texture Sheet Animation

Hi. I’m using Unity 5.3.0f4 and I can’t seem to get the Texture Sheet Animation module in the Shuriken Particle System to work. I think I’m missing something, but I don’t know what (I’m fairly new to Unity).

If I understand it correctly, X and Y should specify the animation cell size in the row (or how many cells to animated per row). But when I select an x and/or a y value, all it does is stretch the particle along that axis. There’s no animation, just a re-scale of the first frame.

I’m not exactly sure what I’m doing wrong or if I’m missing something here.

Thanks,

You probably need to adjust your frame over time curve. Click on it, then click on the highlighted icon at the bottom of the inspector to automatically make it linear. Finally, make sure your frame over time property = X * Y (In my case 6 * 6 = 36).

Your texture should be something like this:

This would require X and Y to be 2 (the animation sheet is 2x2), and the animation when played would look like a shrinking circle. Make sure “Animation” is set to whole sheet, and cycles should be set to 1 if the animation doesn’t loop.

Let me know if this helps
