Hi, I’m having a problem with my particles systems only playing once. Setting either play on awake or calling Play() in script, has the same effect. I went thru every property on the particle system turning them on and off and found that the only thing that would fix it was to set the simulation space from local to world. However when I set the space to world I get the Invalid AABB spam in the debug console. I read that this is being fixed in the next patch. I would prefer to keep the particle system in local space. I tried setting the particle to a keyboard button for testing. The second time playing it the particleCount was always zero. I called Stop, Clear then Play still no effect.
Is this a bug in Unity? Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is there any other work around, besides changing simulation space to World?
Sounds like this reported issue: Unity Issue Tracker - Particle system plays only once
Its currently being investigated.
It could be, I don’t have access to the _Test scene he is referring to. There is no mention of world simulation space fixing the issue. Perhaps this is a clue to solving it. Thanks for the reply, hopefully this can get fixed.
Still present in 5.3.1 p2. Orz…
Use the issue tracker link to see the state. Its still active which means its not yet fixed. When its resolved then expect the fix.

I found another problem with particles rendering in the editor but not at run time. If your using a stretched billboard and have Shape unchecked the particles won’t render when running the game. When I check Shape and set it to sphere with a radius of 1 the particles will render.
Can you file a bug report please. Most of the problems are related to the same issue but just in case.
Issue tracker says fixed in 5.3.2, but I’m still experiencing the same issue using 5.3.2f1.
With local space simulation the particles will only play once. Switch to world space simulation and they can be played multiple times.
Its fixed in 5.3.2p1 and later, not 5.3.2f1.
