Particles as Bullets?

I have searched the forums and found that some suggest using particles as bullets. Sounds good to me. So I create a particle system, firing particles along the z axis. Looks pretty good. I attach my particle System to my object like a gun so as I move it around the particles will be firing. Here is the rub, as long as my object is still the particles fire in the z axis. When I move my object it seems the particle system rotates (I do not see any rotation in the transform) Example if I move down the particles shoot down.

I am moving my player in the x and y axis only. Shooting ahead of me, in the Z axis. I only place velocity in the emitter in the World Velocity Z axis. I have also clicked Simulate in Worldspace. If I do not then all the particles stay in a line.

Any Ideas why this happens or how to fix it?

EDIT: OK it works great on the device, weird to me that it doesnt work correctly in the editor.

Is the character definitely always firing along the world Z axis (ie, he doesn’t tilt up or down at all)? You might try using local Z velocity to fire the bullets. If this doesn’t work, perhaps you could give some more detail about how the character is controlled (joystick, tilting iPhone, etc).

The character is moving in the X/Y plane only. I am using the accelerometer to move it about. The character is the the parent of the particle system.

What is very strange is that in the editor it has this issue, however once I install the game on the device it works correctly.

I am using Unity 3.0.0b5 47785 so it may be a beta thing you want to look at.
