[PC] Dämmerlicht - Adventure game on Greenlight!

Hello!

I’m part of Royal Tea Time Studio, recently created one man studio.
I make games using Unity and recently released my first commercial game
in collaboration with my friend Logan Hart, so I thought I would create
a post about it here for those who might be interested.

Dammerlicht :
The game revolves around the many worlds theory, which claims that there are an infinite number of universes that contain the results of an infinite number of actions. In this game, you play as pixelated hero Sir Pastryfork in the medieval land of Table World. Players’ choice is what drives the game–each choice leads to an entirely new set of worlds and timelines that are in direct reaction to the course of action chosen. For example, one can join the king’s army, and follow a timeline full of adventures with the king’s guard, or one can kill the king, and experience the path of a wanted man.

The game contains :

  • 19 playable levels and a total of 42 levels to unlock
  • Diversified dialogues through a nice dialogue system
  • Simple combat system, different enemy types.
  • No procedural generation every single thing in the game is carefully placed
  • A story-rich game

Our little project was successfully funded on Kickstarter a month ago,
and is currently awaiting passage on Steam Greenlight.

If you want to learn more you can take a look a the greenlight page : Here
It would mean a lot to us if you would take a minute to come take a look.

You can also already buy the game on itch.io for a dollar Here.
and if you’d like to see more about RTTStudio you can follow me on twitter Here.

This looks awesome. A must buy for me. This is actually something I was just talking about a day or so ago in another thread here. About using a simpler / low resolution graphics style to focus on creating a game with a bigger scope / more innovative gameplay.

Really awesome concept and based on the video and your description great work as well!

Although I agree with GarBen - this does look interesting, I’m not sold on anything here representing innovative gameplay.
The scope might be bigger, however the fighting mechanics look very mundane and repetitive, dodge, attack, dodge, attack, dodge, dodge, dodge, attack.
Unless there are enhanced weapons, magical attacks and ranged weapons - I think people might get tired playing this without improved fighting mechanics.

What I like about it is the combat itself seems simple & straightforward mechanics but it is all part of something much bigger. The part of the flexibility of what you can do overall and how actions affect the game. That is the big thing. Of course it depends on how well it is implememted and to what degree but overall sounds innovative in that manner at least.

Referring to the paragraph immediately beneath the video.

First of all thanks to the both of you for taking the time to check it out.

I must say that it’s really not a game for everyone,
the game is nowhere near combat focused so I’d totally understand
and even suggest that if you usually prefer games with diverse combat
this might not exactly be the game for you.

Also I developed this alone and in 2 months, it’s also my first commercial game
so don’t expect any “wow” really, I see a lot of things that I could improve in this.

But if what you are looking for is a simple game oriented mainly on it’s story
and some sort of “puzzle” (since you need to figure out how to unlock the different outcomes)
this might be for you.

I would say the game as between 1 to 3 hours of gameplay (depending on how fast you find each outcomes)
as for replay ability, if you want to try to read everything and understand everything you might want to
play the full game 1 or 2 time, but since there’s no procedural generation, that there’s no
character progression and that the game allows you to try every outcome without having to create
a new game I’d say the game isn’t really replayable.

I hope this answered some questions you might have had, keep in mind the game
is only sold for a dollar at the moment and if you think some people might like
the idea consider taking a minute to vote for it on greenlight.

Everything you said is fine to me although I think $1 is a ridiculous price. For mobile no. For desktop… I’d rather not see game prices race to the bottom. Otherwise sounds good.

Every game does doesn’t need hours & hours of content and game play. If people want that they have other Indie games as well as AAA games to play. So I see this shorter game as very much being what I’d expect from Indie…different.

Just wanted to say that Dämmerlicht just got Greenlit, so the game should
be coming on the steam market pretty soon

Also thanks GarBenjamin that’s really kind of you, I do know that 1$ is ridiculous,
it’s just that since it was my first commercial games I was really kind of scared
of not being able to sell any copy and I know that not everyone can
understand that developers actually work to make games and
expect to receiver everything free of charge.

That is impressive, although my view is skewed because of my inability to work on anything for more than 2-4 hours per night.

I kinda missed this point in the description. I read the bullet points and didn’t see this mentioned. Consider making this one of your USP (unique selling points) bulleted like the other elements mentioned above.

I also agree with @GarBenjamin about price. IMO from the video and rereading the feature list and description - consider $2.99 for a cheap price and $3.99 for average price for this game.

Nice work all in all.
