Performance - 3G vs 3GS vs iPhone4

First, I apologize if this has been discussed before. After reading about some iPhone4 performance complaints, I was curious as to what type of performance to expect for an app I am developing.

I am developing on an iPhone 3G. I just hit about 30 drawcalls in a scene and animation is starting to become a little choppy. I realize that I will need to optimize some scripting, but I wanted to know if other iPhone models would better handle that number of drawcalls. Would a iTouch crash or hiccup? Would 30 drawcalls even be an issue for an iPhone4? Is performance simply based upon the device OS and memory?

I’d love to hear any input.

Thanks

No its based on the CPU, the GPU and RAM

The 3G is worlds behind the other two. Something barely running on the 3G will fly on the other two normally.

Also the ipod touch 2nd gen. onwards really beats the 3G - it’s an unfortunate model the 3G - perhaps a low-detail option is needed to cover this (presumably popular) iphone.

although that beats stands in no comparision to the 3GS+.
Also, its just as doomed to fade away as the 3G, due to being hit by iOS4 in general and the lack of support (game center is going to be removed from 2nd gen devices with 4.1 and alike) in the future.

and the popularity is iphone 3GS → itouch 2nd gen → phone 3G → itouch 3GS (likely the later is on 4th cause apple sold the itouch 2nd gen for 2 years now, the itouch 3gs only one and the 2nd gen always was cheaper naturally)
