Permissive licenses and Unity developed games

Hi!

I recently thought about an issue regarding Unity developed binaries and permissive licenses like the GPL or some of the Creative Commons licenses.

The GPL and other licenses like it allows the end user to decompile or reverse engineer any part of the software licensed under the license. Now this becomes an issue because as far as I’m aware any binary compiled with Unity will contain proprietary Unity software and/or proprietary middle-ware software and/or any third-party software, i.e. Unity asset store assets.

Now my question is wether I’m wrong here or is it actually not possible to release your Unity game, as a whole including binaries and art assets, licensed under a permissive license like the GPL?

Thanks!

Anything original can be released under license, I’m not sure how exactly but you can state a difference between unity provided code and your own as your licensing only applies to your code to be used in tandem with unity.
