Hi,
I got this
On a mesh with only 13000 vertices in 3ds max, but with 25732 vertices in unity (normals calculated in unity with 180 smoothing anlge).
This error happens when I add the mesh collider to a sub object, not when I add it to the root.

i got this error as well and raised my eyebrow because my object actually only has 12k verts ! not 60k
I get this error too. It just comes out of the blue, no real reason (and the meshes dont even come close to exceeding that amount either).
There doesn’t seem to be an entry in the bug database for this. Please can you report it (menu: Help > Report A Problem).
I would if I could get the error to pop up on a consistent interval (so you guys can reproduce it). But one second its there and the next second/or pressing play makes it disappear … then it goes days without popping up again.
Maybe the OP has better reproducible example.
I send a mail to joe robins. He asked me to send the fbx file, on IRC.
