I’ve just submit the demo version of Physis to Kongregate Unity Contest. Please check it out and comment/rate, thanks!
Wow, thats very very nice. I find it a little too difficult to control however. And, the finish line being in the middle of nowhere is a great idea, but make it bigger or something, because its easy to miss.
I found that I kept dying while backtracking to retrieve collectables I missed that the jump pads shot me past! #@
Good game, very nice over all quality.
I think the main thing letting it down are the vertical section.
As a new player they don’t know that the finish is the finish, and that you have to go (reasonably) slow so that you hit the finish flag.
Having the “hit the flag” mini game to finish is a nice idea, but the player needs to know that that is their goal first?
I quit the game in the jumping vertical sections (through the holes) of level 3 (I think?).
This section currently being completely physics based, AND not being able to see where you need to go - is frustrating.
Currently the game seems slightly imbalanced toward trial and error, changing the vertical sections so the player has more control and knows their goal would move the shift toward more skill based game play.
To avoid frustration when the player dies the player has to feel like it was their fault.
Just my opinion
I totally agree with kormyen.
at the end of the first level I was there like “what the hell now?” looking at a dead end and no where to jump at… because the jump pod at the end of the way looked exactly like all the others jump pad I crossed by before, and all the others were used to jump towards some place ahead, not above. so that was a big “?”. eventually I just advanced pretty slowly and it lauched me really hard (which, honestly, was kind of a surprise).
that’s part of the game is not intuitive at all and I was about to quite there, I just tried go over the jump pad because the dificulty of the game is kinda diabolical and once there I had to try something… even if it looked like a bad joke.
I believe some kind of sign would fit well in there.
also, I quite at the jumping through holes at level 3 too, that was kind of too much for me.
except for those details, and the difficulty which I find over the top here and there, the look of the game is very nice.
