Pills4Skills. Gravitational Puzzle Platformer

Hello everybody.

Working on my new game right now, called Project (it’s’ a working name and it will be changed eventually)

The game is <50% completed: not much of a graphics yet, but the overall mechanics are done.

The genre is a puzzle platformer: some kind of mix of such awesome games as VVVVVV, Gravity Duck and Super Meat Boy.

To complete the level, player have to get a key and go through the portal. Each level contains 3 diamonds. Player should collect them to unlock the new “worlds” with another set of levels.
If player completes the level in a short time and picks up all the diamonds, he get’s the A+ rating. It will reward him with a prize (achievements, extra cloth, secret levels etc)

There is one world (12 levels) with some basic obstacles at the moment, but I’m already adding more: portals (like in Portal game), crates, shooting obstacles, enemies, destructible walls, double jumps etc.

The game is challenging and it’s difficulty constantly grows.

I’m developing it for the mobile devices, so don’t pay attention for the onscreen buttons at the moment. I’ll hide them in a future webplayer builds.

Controls:
left/right - move
spacebar - jump
z,x,c - stick to the wall (lefter,upper, righter), works as a swipes.

So what do you guys think? Did you like the gameplay? Should I change the graphics to more complex? Is it too hard/too easy? It would be great to hear some tips and reviews)

There could be some bugs with animation and gravity change in this builds, but they are already fixed, I’ll update the webplayer demo soon

Changelog:

  • added second world with new types of obstacles
  • added “insane” level difficulty, which can be unlocked if player finishes the level with A+ rating (to get A+ player have to be fast and take all 3 diamonds on the level)
  • some UI changes

There is 48 levels at the moment in this build: 24 for normal and 24 for insane difficulties.

All levels are tested and can be finished with A+ rating. Try it if you dare! Have fun! :slight_smile:

It would be awesome to get some feedback.
I’m really concerned about graphics at the moment. I’m not that good at painting so how do you think: should I hire the artist to make the game look more detailed, or the current style are completely fine?

Got some storyline. The game will be about a guy who was trapped into a magic black-white TV and in order to break free he has to pass through 3 R-G-B worlds :slight_smile: That’s just a concept, but I think that I’ll stick to this idea. Haven’t done any art yet, got to find an artist. Lot’s of work here.

Some change-log:

  • added some graphic effects, which made the game a bit laggy, but in the end it will be around 60 fps on a mid-core devices. Hopefully :slight_smile:
  • all 3 worlds are now completed (counts 72 levels at the moment, but there will be more after release)
  • some gui updates

I’ve removed the demo for now. Maybe I’ll post it back soon.

It’s been a while. Was a bit busy IRL, but now the game is ready and will be out in May!
