of course its illegal. Just get blender and remake the shapes in there and render them out, or use some other free option. It won’t be hard to trace over your original designs and you will have peace of mind etc.
Blender is free and capable. Just get the trial of latest illustrator. I don’t believe there’s a restriction in the eula But check it.
Its good to keep your nose clean in game development as publishers and industry people who would otherwise help you advice would take a dim view of it and would not be impressed. So its up to us to practise what we preach more so than say, a normal gamer.
For example we complain about piracy of our games right? so we had better make sure its not the pot calling the kettle black
If you want free vector program check out Inkscape. It’s really good. Modelling wise, listen to hippocoder, use blender or perhaps a student version of Autodesk’s product. And plz no piracy. Just so you don’t know. Piracy in the entertainment industry can be really bad. Assets made with pirated software cannot be sold and if caught it’s FINE/LAWSUIT.
Otherwise use tools like Inkscape, Paint.net/GIMP, Blender, Unity for your Pipeline.
I think we’ll stop this here before someone suggests any tips for getting away with using pirated software. Remember kids: a pirate may seem glamourous but he’s really just a thief with a boat.
