Place a cube in a new scene and you get self shadowing artifacts

Just noticed in new 2017.3 that the default scene setup gives you realtime shadow artifacts on a default 3d cube added to the scene, in the form of some kind of self-shadowing as shown in this image (contrast increased).

Realtime shadows are often problematic but perhaps the defaults should be better/different?
In fact it is not immediately obvious how to get rid of it, not played with shadows for a while…

I’m dealing with this same problem. I haven’t figured out how to fix it.
