Placing texture on edge of quads

I sliced a Plane into multiple Quads. They are created in direction of x,y axis. They are sorted in direction of Z-Axis (see Pictures)
The texture is now applied to every Quad in direction of x,y.
Now I want the texture of my plane be formed by the edges of the quads (in direction of Z-Axis so that multiple edges form the texture).
Is that even possible? If yes how?
